Fool

 PHOTO PROMPT © Rowena Curtin

This is the gully where that beady-eyed, fluorescent-shirt-wearing cowboy murdered you, after promising that you’ll inherit his ranch if you helped him get investors for his Ponzi scheme. That guy, with his southern drawl and his dark brown boots, had this nefarious aspect to him you saw through, but still fell victim to — the allure of an imaginary farm with Jersey cattle and shaggy ewes, drawing you. It didn’t help that he was Japanese Sinhalese and told you the farm was in a remote corner of the Artic: A viridescent, homely pasture rid of ice and sleet, reserved for you.

  2. My latest illustration goes so well with your poem. It is not very good, but you can add it to the prompt one if you like.

    1. I liked the samurai cowboy one a lot. I can’t use it here because we have to use the photo given sadly. But if you’re okay with it, I might use your art with a link back to your site in a future post. A Pinky’s Burger one (if I ever get down to writing it). And if you’re down, I could make you a minor character in one of the episodes.

      1. Just ask me first before you post it. Some of my drawings are straight up copies (bad copies) and there might be copyright issues. I don’t know…

      2. Oh okay. Then I won’t. You could draw a burger with fries with a P over it, and I could use that if you’re down.

  3. Ugh, true, it’s worse when you don’t trust them and yet still fall for the scam. Nicely written. Great twist with the location.

  13. This is a perfect introduction for a revenge tale. The protagonist has powerful motivation and a hate-worthy target. Good story!
